WEIRD PICS series were painted in 2023.
The subject matters are based off of my personal photographs I’ve been taking all over the place while in New York.
I love flaneuring around the city to see it in detail. So, sometimes I’d find curious, “a bit out of place”, objects or scenes.
My decision for these series was to paint them on 9 30x30 cm canvases I brought with me when I was moving to Moscow in 2018.
My attempt was to paint the selected photographs in detail and add “something from myself” to each painting, which created the semi-surreal sense to the series
Below each work is a little description note

I took a few photographs of quite old (70s-80s-90s) carousels. The ones I found are located at the streets of Brooklyn either in the dumpsters or in front of delis’ advertisement posters of beer and cigarettes.
