Artist statement 2023-2024
The series of paintings and works on paper created between 2023 and 2024 reflect my profound joy in the interplay between music and visual art. Each piece is crafted using my preferred mediums—watercolor, colored pencils, and oils on prepared canvas—aiming to forge intimate connections with viewers.
My creative process embodies a spontaneous and intuitive approach, whereby my hands and subconscious play a pivotal role in shaping my work. I foster a dynamic relationship with color and brushwork, employing a swift technique that seeks to capture the essence of my inspiration in real-time. This methodology is deeply rooted in my formative years, during which I dedicated two years to the study of Russian folk ornamental painting. The skills I developed during this period impart a calligraphic quality to my marks, enhancing the overall composition and adding depth to the emotional landscape of my art.
I often begin with instinctive brushwork, embracing the phenomenon of pareidolia to inform the final stages of my creations. As I layer pigments, imagery organically unfolds, gradually revealing the overarching theme. The surface of my work holds great significance; for this series, I have chosen to extensively layer gesso and meticulously polish the surface to explore the unique visual effects created in conjunction with oils, watercolors, and colored pencils.

2024
This artwork, developed organically over the years 2023-2024, embodies a process free from preconceived notions, allowing the painting to evolve naturally.
The piece “Awww” conveys a howling sound within the viewer's mind, drawing attention to the central portrait. Surrounding the figure is a semi-abstract, dream-like atmosphere that enhances the emotional part of the work.
At its core, the composition includes an excerpt from Arseny Tarkovsky's poem "And this I dreamt," which seamlessly integrates with the musical collaboration of David Sylvain and Ryuichi Sakamoto in "Life, Life."
The juxtaposition of visual art and poetic literature creates a multifaceted experience, inviting the viewer to explore their own interpretations and emotions.
